Creating Private Name Servers with Network Solutions Print

  • 0

Private Name Servers (also called Custom Name Servers) allow you to give your customers ns1.yourdomain.com and ns2.yourdomain.com (and also use these for your own nameservers for yourdomain.com as well).
This article describes how to create Private Name Servers with Network Solutions at www.networksolutions.com. Depending on whether or not Network Solutions decides to change the look and feel of their websites, the steps listed below may vary.

Step 1: Log into your account at Network Solutions from the homepage by first clicking on the green Account Manager Log In button in the top right corner of the screen. You will need to enter your User ID and your Password. Then, click on "Log In".

Step 2: Once logged in, click on Manage Host Servers at the bottom of the left navigation panel.

Step 3: On the next screen enter the name of the host server - your primary name server - (ns1.yourdomain.com) and then click Continue.

Step 4: On the next screen, enter the IP address of your primary name server as given to you in your Welcome e-mail. Click Continue.

Step 5: On the next screen, click Apply Changes to commit changes that you just made.

Step 6: Repeast steps 3 through 5 for your secondary name server (ns2.yourdomain.com).

You're done! You can now change the name servers for your domain to ns1.yourdomain.com and ns2.yourdomain.com now! You can also give this to all customers that you create in WHM as well!
